Supporting individual and institutional excellence, and developing talents
The School-Within-A-School programme, for instance, allows talented student-athletes in the Singapore Sports School to pursue their sport at a higher level without forgoing desired academic outcomes. Students attend training sessions during the day and academic lessons in the evening.
Building character, instilling good values in students
To make a difference to children enrolled in student care centres, the Foundation piloted the Learning is Fun and Exciting (LIFE) Programme. Through this programme, children get to learn about life values through meaningful and fun hands-on activities.
Promoting inclusivity by providing individuals access to a range of activities.
Encouraging integration so that diverse groups gain a better understanding of each other.
As an example, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra actively reached out to neighhourhood primary schools to teach musical techniques and discover new talents. In 2017, the Orchestra conducted a series of workshops for students at Fuchun Primary School, as part of the Striking A Chord: Young Musician Learners programme.
